ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS
The Credit Union Act states that Credit Unions are to hold their Annual General Meeting before the ending of May in each year. These AGMs (as they are commonly known) provide the opportunity for members to be updated on developments and advances at their institutions. SMCU has a long history of AGMs in San Ignacio. AGM venues have included the Standard 6 Classroom of the Sacred Heart Primary School, the San Ignacio Hotel and the Macal River Park. AGM dates are usually announced on the radio, on television and other mass communication media including the social media etc. Members are invited to attend their AGM to listen to the progress of SMCU, ask questions and vote.
The Annual General Meeting is the opportunity for members, as owners of the Credit Union, to ask questions about the activities of their institution, request answers from their officers and staff, and make suggestions on improving the services for the benefit of everyone who own shares.
